9 November 2026, 6:30 – 8:30pm:
Guided tour with Karen Knorr and Book Signing
In dialogue with the exhibition, Delacroix, Horses and Other Animals, and as part of PhotoSaintGermain, the Musée Delacroix will present a selection of Karen Knorr’s photographs featuring animals depicted by the painter: wild cats, horses, and peacocks. Blending observed animals with places rich in memory, the works of Eugène Delacroix and Karen Knorr create beautiful imaginary encounters.
Karen will be present on 9 November from 6.30pm – 8:30pm to lead a guided visit, free for anyone with a ticket for the museum that day, followed by a book signing.
Her work explores the complex relationships between heritage, power, myth, and culture through a body of photographic work in which animals inhabit places steeped in history.Indian palaces, ancient villas, museums, and historic residences become the settings for an unlikely encounter between nature and culture, reality and fiction.
Created from large-format photographs of architectural spaces, along with digital photographs into which live animals—observed in wildlife reserves, museums, zoos, or in the wild—are digitally inserted, her images blur the boundaries of reality. Tigers, cranes, monkeys, peacocks, swans, and leopards appear to move naturally through these spaces, which were nevertheless designed to celebrate power, memory, or the founding narratives of civilizations.
